The Super Bowl of Trivia is a TV game show whose time has finally arrived. Conceived and copy written in the mid-1980’s, it is a live interaction trivia show, which has never been done before.
Time Frame for Placement of Show February thru May
After the Super Bowl, which is played in the first week of February, is when the first showing should begin. Ideally the NFL Network would be the best fit for such a show. The NFL’s Network consists of replays of old games back to the 1970s, and reruns (A Football Life). There is little new programming during this period. Draft updates is one thing but there is no big hook there.
The NBC Sports Network has a game show … called Football Jeopardy. This show has all the excitement of a 20-year punt going out of bounds. What can you expect when you have the likes of Dan Patrick has the host. Going forward the Production Company and Network involved in my project, has to have the foresight and gravitas to take on such a project. For us Californians we use the expression “have big cojones,” … to do live TV, this is what it’s going to take.
And then there’s the ESPN’s problems. As their ratings continue to drop and Monday Night Football is being held hostage by the NFL Network, they need to make a serious commitment to new programming. My show would fit perfect on their Network; but I will not let them steal my show as they did in 1988. Remember Boardwalk of Baseball-Super Bowl of Sports Trivia narrated by Bermann…that was mine. After preliminary negotiations they ran with my idea/show but only lasted one year.
My trademark “The Super Bowl of Trivia” (and there can only be one) is pending but should be approved soon. This will go a long way in bringing major sponsors on board to market the program. With the Rams and Chargers now in Los Angeles and the NFL firmly entrenched, this should be part of a package which could be produced on-site at the new stadium in the future.
